Overview

The EPMO Senior Project Manager plans, manages and drives the end-to-end lifecycle of a small number of initiatives governed by the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO).  These initiatives are high-priority, cross-departmental projects that support the achievement of Murphy USA's corporate goals.

 

This role is responsible for following the guidelines and standards set by the EPMO, providing structure and accountability within their assigned portfolio of projects, anticipating, and resolving risks, and driving alignment and transparency across his/her assigned initiatives to ensure they are delivered on time/budget and meet or exceed business expectations, along with any other duties as required or assigned.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage day-to-day relationships with Project Sponsors and Project Leads in preparing and updating plans, schedules, resource requests, key performance indicators (KPI), and other inputs to the EPMO process for their assigned initiatives; activities include facilitating meetings, developing reports, and conducting project tracking and analyses
  2. Employ EPMO processes, tools, and methodologies to provide structure and consistency in the reporting and management of corporate initiatives; ensures adherence across initiatives to these standards
  3. Contribute to developing and continuously improving on the processes by which the EPMO identifies project scope, evaluates, resources, governs, and closes enterprise initiatives
  4. Develop, update, and share a comprehensive, forward-looking view of each assigned initiative - highlighting key risks related to budget, timing, and resources
  5. Facilitate risks management and keep Project Sponsors and Project Leads informed of these risks and challenges
  6. Work with business project leads to monitor initiative progress and take corrective actions to resolve risks and challenges
  7. Employ change management practices to ensure user adoption and smooth transition of projects from EPMO oversight to business ownership
  8. Escalate issues to the EPMO, Steering Committee, or appropriate oversight body
  9. Calculate and track project benefits, both financial and strategic
  10. Participate in EPMO team activities including Continuous Improvement work
  11. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

Preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • PMP Certification
  • Six Sigma Certification

Software Skills Required:

  • Intermediate: Sensei Beacon PPM, MS Project/Project Web App, Presentation/PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing, Other
  • Basic: 10-Key, Accounting

 Experience / Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • More than 4 to 5 years’ experience
