Director, Enablement, Innovation & Culinary (Enterprise F&B)

The Director of Enterprise Food & Beverage Enablement, Innovation, Culinary provides leadership and management across food & beverage for Murphy USA and QuickChek. This Director is responsible for developing food service programs through cohesive collaboration and communication with cross functional business partners.


The role oversees four primary areas within the Enterprise Food & Beverage organization – enablement (F&B training/execution, projects), store technology (e.g. customer touch screen), F&B safety/quality assurance, and innovation/culinary.


The successful candidate will possess both a strategic and execution mindset, able to be a hands-on leader with his/her team. This position helps to manage key stakeholders internally and externally (e.g. vendor partners/ manufacturers).


This individual should possess great attention to detail, high energy, agility, and sound business/ operational skills. This individual will be able to operate in a flexible, fast-paced environment that is highly collaborative and team oriented. This successful candidate will be able to establish the appropriate operational best practices and process improvements, to drive impact across the business.

  • Act as an Enterprise leader, with the ability to collaborate across teams/functions and home office/ field (Murphy USA and QuickChek).
  • Partner with F&B Category Management leader & team to drive the day-to-day business and execution of initiatives.
  • Help to define and implement the strategy & execution across Enterprise F&B, specifically focusing on special projects, F&B-related technology & equipment, food safety/audit.
  • Manage the food safety/audit and F&B training teams to ensure strict adherence to guidelines.
  • Help to define and drive overall F&B innovation & culinary, including building/shaping the team and capabilities to meet critical business needs.
  • Lead, manage, and grow a cross-functional team.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and track accordingly, holding teams accountable.
  • Create presentations, especially in Powerpoint, to convincingly convey plans, project updates, and other initiatives.
  • Manage the execution of pricing changes across the store network and related technology.
  • Drive expansion in food and beverage categories by building tools and processes across the company to share successes, insights, and reporting on results.
  • Bring new, creative ideas to grow the food & beverage business, as well as help drive chosen ideas to business/financial impact.
  • Travel into markets as needed to support the team and drive impact of initiatives.
  • Own project prioritization, timelines, budgets, processes & work flows.
  • Help to lead the discovery, design, development and implementation of new and modified F&B related systems, equipment, tools and processes that simplify operations and improve overall performance and store economics.
  • Partner with Operations, Category Management, and other areas to execute & support F&B initiatives at the store level.
  • Act as a key business partner to the VP of Enterprise Food & Beverage.
  • Expect to spend ~25% of time in market (outside of Whitehouse Station, NJ).


  • A minimum of 10 years of full-time experience - preferably in the quick service restaurant ("QSR"), convenience store, food & beverage, and/or multi-unit retail industry across operations, marketing & innovation, sales, business development, and/or equivalent functions.
  • A four-year college degree is required; MBA preferred
  • A track record of developing strong cross-functional partnerships to deliver results.
  • Knowledge of the US food & beverage industry (operations, equipment, trends, etc).
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to create & convey presentations to senior management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Proven experience in persuading others through use of sound logic and data.
  • High energy with an ownership-mindset and a bias for execution + results.
  • An agile, continuous improvement mindset with a strong desire to learn.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and a personal reputation for honesty & integrity.
  • Self-aware, humble, and willing to be a player-coach in a fast-growing part of the business.
